Smithy
There was no manor without a smithy.
Due to their flammability, they were built away from other buildings, usually somewhere on the edge of a field or park.
The Palmse smithy was built in the early 19th century by Carl Magnus von der Pahlen.
After being deserted for a long time, Lahemaa National Park renovated it by 1985.
The smithy is open to anyone who wants to see real blacksmithing with their own eyes or try it with their own hands.
The smithy’s exposition also contains a large number of old-fashioned sidearms: from various stabbing weapons to many throwing weapons.
Come in and ask the blacksmith about them!
